Notes from Nature

I have been working on my journals lately and am excited to get outside again as we emerge from winter and I start to see signs of spring. I have been hearing the birds a lot lately and have started to hear red-winged blackbirds, which is the surest sign that the earth is coming alive again. I know we are mere days away from hearing Spring Peepers as has been reported south of us. Meanwhile, I have gone through a lot of my drawings from the year and added some color. I journal in many different ways. Sometimes, I do all of my work in the field; at other times, I spend part of my time drawing and photographing and I paint when I get home. Here are some of my encounters with nature and the journal entries that came from them.
